Fraxel laser treatment is the most optimal solution for fractional, aesthetic skin rejuvenation. Fraxel re:store provides you with the effect of ablative laser treatment with the same security as non-ablative laser treatment. 

Before treatment, an anaesthetic cream is applied to the skin, and this takes about an hour to take effect. The actual treatment with Fraxel re:store takes from 20-40 minutes, depending on the area to be treated. The treatment feels progressively warmer throughout this time. The skin is cooled both during and after treatment in order to reduce the warming sensation.

After treatment, your skin will feel hot and be red, similar to having a sunburn. Usually, the burning sensation subsides after a few hours, and you can resume daily activities. However, you should avoid activities that increase blood circulation: e.g., physical activity such as exercising, swimming and aerobics. Avoid the sauna as well. 

Your skin will be slightly red for 2-4 days and a little dry and rough for up to a week. During this period, your skin will take on a mild bronze colour due to pigments in the skin that are flaking off. Swelling, especially around the eyes, is also common during the first few days. 

From experience, we notice that most people will require 5-7 treatments with Fraxel re:store. The treatments are carried out at approximately 4-week intervals. The number of treatments and the results will be specific for each individual and will vary by age, skin quality and indication.

Can everyone receive treatment?  

We do not treat women who are pregnant or who are breast feeding. Let us know if you are on medication that causes sensitivity to light, are taking blood-thinning drugs or are taking other types of treatments. If you have been treated with Roaccutane, you must wait one year before you start treatment with Fraxel re:store. 

How is treatment carried out with Fraxel re:store laser?  

During traditional laser treatment, the entire skin surface is exposed to laser beams that burn away the top layers of skin. This exposes the skin to significant stress, which can commonly cause an increase in undesired side effects. 

Fraxel re:store is a fractional laser, which means that the laser treats microscopic areas of skin with each unique pulse, leaving the surrounding skin intact and thus allowing faster healing.

These microscopic treatment areas, each just a tenth of the diameter of a human hair, penetrate to the exact depth and breadth necessary for optimal results. The skin heals much more rapidly than if the entire surface had been treated simultaneously. This is because the treatment uses the skin's own healing ability to create new, healthy tissue.
